Michael O’Brien joined the Law Office of John W. Redmann, LLC in 2019 as an Associate Attorney working in the litigation section. He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and Federal Courts, including the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, since 2001.

Mike graduated with distinction from Iowa State University, which he attended on an NCAA Football Scholarship. Thereafter, he attended Loyola University School of Law and earned his juris doctorate in 2001. Mike earned several awards while attending Loyola, including the Joseph Rault Award for excellence in Admiralty and Maritime Law.

Before joining the firm in 2019, Mike was a trial attorney in one of the largest firms in Louisiana where he worked for 13 years gaining extensive litigation and jury trial experience in many areas of the law including: personal injury, insurance defense, mediation, arbitration, and general litigation including casualty and retail litigation, wrongful death, accident and incident investigations, property damage, product liability, redhibition, federal investigations, vehicular and trucking collisions, construction litigation, oil and gas litigation, admiralty and maritime litigation, judgment enforcements, collections, slips, trips, and falls, and appeals. Mike has a total of over 18 years of legal experience, and he enjoys using the knowledge he has gained on both sides of the court to achieve the best results for the firm’s clients.

In 2017, Mike was named one of the Top 50 lawyers in the Greater New Orleans area and selected by New Orleans City Business magazine as a Leadership in Law recipient. When he is not practicing law, Mike officiates high school football statewide as a member of the Greater New Orleans Football Officials Association. He also serves as a board member of the Mariners Club for the Port of New Orleans.
