Drive responsibly this holiday season

Posted in Our Blog on December 24, 2015

Christmas is here, and New Year’s Eve is right around the corner. That means lots of presents, friends and family, time off work and good times had by all, right? While this is certainly true for most of us, Louisiana residents need to stay grounded and realistic during the holiday season about one very important issue: drunk driving.

With all the festive cheer and parties, our nation’s roadways will be literally clogged with intoxicated partygoers who should never have gotten behind the wheel of an automobile. That means, even if you are extremely careful not to drink and drive yourself, your family is still in serious danger of getting tangled up in a car accident with someone who is not being so responsible.

In order limit your chances of getting into a DUI-related accident, you may want to take some specific precautions while you are driving around this holiday season. First, do not drink and drive. If absolutely must drink, and you know you can control yourself, do not have more than one alcoholic beverage. Second, be extremely careful and attentive to what other drivers are doing around you. If you see someone who appears to be drunk driving, give them lots of space and call the police. Finally, avoid driving between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., as this is when DUI drivers are the most prevalent on the road.

If an intoxicated driver has injured you or a family member, you will have the ability to seek financial restitution from that driver in civil court. Or firm, the Law Offices of John W. Redmann, LLC, helps accident victims in these kinds of personal injury claims. When successfully navigated, such a legal case can be a way for injured parties to receive financial compensation for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, time spent unable to work, permanent and temporary disabilities and more.
