13-year-old girl killed in tragic car crash

A junior high school student from Monroe, Louisiana, was recently killed in a tragic car accident. The 13-year-old girl was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that did not stop at a stop sign. After entering the intersection, her car was hit by another vehicle.

Louisiana State Police responded to the two-vehicle crash just before 7:45 p.m., last Thursday. At the crash site, police say they found a 2013 Toyota SUV and a 2003 Ford pickup. After analyzing the evidence, police learned that the accident happened after the SUV failed to stop at a stop sign.

The driver and several passengers inside the SUV were rushed to different hospitals for treatment. Unfortunately, the 13-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the medical facility. The driver of the pickup was also treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Police say that the incident is still being investigated and they are waiting for the results of a toxicology report. At this time, it is not clear if the SUV driver has been charged relating to the crash.

In Louisiana accidents that involve multiple injuries and fatalities, it is vital that law enforcement officers accurately piece together what happened in their investigations. This is because evidence from police investigations can be used in criminal court to convict guilty parties of unlawful actions. The evidence could also be very important for injured people - and family members of deceased victims - to seek financial compensation and restitution against the at-fault party responsible for the collision.
